Venice is the city where I live,

the city I contemplate, sketch and paint.

Here you’ll find my works inspired by its squares, its light,

its misty fog and its painters.

Here you’ll find my sketches done from life in cafés and on the streets.

Here you’ll find two ways to explore Venice with me.

Acrylic on canvas, 30 cm x 30 cm: Venice in dialogue with Francesco Guardi, a tribute to the 18th-century Venetian painter. Painted on unprimed canvas using an 18th-century colour palette, with the focus on a lady’s pink dress. St Mark’s Square with the Basilica in the foreground.

Acrylic on canvas, 30 cm × 30 cm: Venice in dialogue with William Turner, a tribute to his light. A palette on a tin depicting the view of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore shrouded in the morning mist. The lightness and transparency of the lagoon. By the artist Nadia Kuprina

Venice: a gondolier ferries a couple in a gondola opposite St Mark’s Square. The gondola is bathed in a deep, vibrant blue. The Doge’s Palace and the domes of St Mark’s Basilica exude a spectral and intriguing green. The palette of emeralds and deep blues resembles certain Murano glass. Venice. Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 30 cm: fog in Venice with the Ca’ d’Oro. The face of a young Venetian woman by candlelight. The thick, white fog above envelops a bridge over a narrow canal. The lace-like façade of the Ca’ d’Oro. A mystical and evocative painting by Nadia Kuprina.

Venice. Acrylic on canvas, 30x30 cm: twilight in Campo San Boldo. Evening, the lights are on, the still canal reflects a Venetian palace. Warm, antique pink tones. Time seems to stand still, as does one’s breath. The reflection of Venice seems to reveal its true identity. Painting by Nadia Kuprina

Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 30 cm: Venice in dialogue with Filippo De Pisis, a tribute to the painter. It reinterprets De Pisis’s 1953 Still Life, featuring a dramatic wind carrying feathers and shells onto the beach at the Lido. Venice, like a rosy mirage on the horizon, escapes the storm. The seagulls appear motionless amidst the gusts of wind. An interpretation by the painter Nadia Kuprina.

Acrylic on canvas, 30x30 cm: Venice seen from the top of the bell tower of San Giorgio Maggiore. A breathtaking view of the lagoon. The great blue embrace of La Serenissima. A sense of flight, of the cold, and of an exhilarating, sparkling freedom. By Nadia Kuprina

Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 30 cm: a sunlit Venetian square, painted by Nadia Kuprina. A warm, futuristic Venice. The houses fan out, revealing the façade and bell tower of a Gothic church. The buildings resemble people gathered around a well, engaged in lively conversation. A work by Nadia Kuprina.

Acrylic on canvas, 30 cm x 30 cm: Venice in dialogue with the painter Pierre Albert Marquet. The red sail in the foreground interacts with St Mark’s bell tower. The emerald-green lagoon curves, opening up the view to the Basilica della Salute in the distance. A tribute to the French painter by Nadia Kuprina.

Collage in Venice

A couple of hours to create your own work of art, together. I’ll take you away from the tourist crowds to gather and collect elements of this city.

I’ll provide the materials: coloured paper, pencils and felt-tip pens. You don’t need any experience or to be able to draw.

At the end, you’ll take your collage home with you — a unique and handmade souvenir.

Venice. A collage of coloured paper, an assemblage of Venetian elements: laundry hanging out to dry, a bridge over the canal, the row of houses in Dorsoduro, a pigeon and the façade of the Redentore church with its staircase. An example of a collage to be created under the guidance of Nadia Kuprina during a workshop in Venice.

A stroll through Venice, at a leisurely pace and far from ourist itineraries. I’ll take you through the narrow streets and squares I love; we can stop for a coffee and look at the city through a painter’s eyes. This isn’t a guided tour: you won’t find dates or historical explanations, but a deeper, more peaceful way to experience Venice. If you’d like, whilst we’re out and about, I’ll do a quick sketch of you — or all of you — as a personal memento, included in the price.
